Directions:
The Brightening Peel AHA 30% or 50% Kojic Peel is a peel strength product and should only be used every 2-3 weeks. The peel should be applied by applying a small amount of the solution to a gauze pad and then using a mild circular action to buff the skin. Application time should begin at 1-2 minutes maximum and then rinsed off with water. After several successive peel treatments at 2-3 week intervals, you may slowly increase the application time. Note that leaving the peel on the skin for too long can cause a sunburn type effect that may cause further hyperpigmentation - so rinse the peel off or use Neutralizer! Under normal circumstances, the skin will begin to peel after 48 hours – an absence of any peeling may indicate application time should be slightly extended. During the peel period you may experience some redness and peeling – do not peel the skin – allow the skin to naturally slough off. In-between peel applications continue the cell turnover process with application of the Daily Exfoliator and follow with treating the skin with Alpha Arbutin Serum. Avoid direct sunlight to slow the darkening of the skin and apply SPF30+.

** For pigmentation problems and skin lightening the most common prescription treatment method is Hydroquinone. Unfortunately, Hydroquinone can have negative side effects and can actually cause hyperpigmentation which makes the uneven skin tone worsen than prior to treatment. Our product contains a combination Alpha Hydroxy Glycolic, Lactic and Pyruvic Acids together with Kojic acid, Bearberry and Licorice extracts to inhibit skin discoloration and melanin production and slow the darkening of the cells.

The Brightening Peel and Brightening Daily Exfoliator combine AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) with Kojic Acid for an effective skin peel that targets and reverses uneven skin tone and discoloration, and jump starts a complete skin rejuvenation process. Combination Alpha Hydroxy Glycolic, Lactic and Pyruvic Acids together with Kojic acid, Bearberry and Licorice extracts inhibit skin discoloration and melanin production and slow the darkening of the cells. Skin appears brighter with noticeably lighter, even skin tone.

The Brightening Peel can be performed in combination with another mild facial treatment for a complete skin care treatment. Excellent results can be seen from using the Brightening Peel in conjunction with a 10% Salicylic Acid Peel.

Our clinical evaluations have shown that skin bleaching is not as effective as skin turnover when trying to treat discoloration of the skin. We often recommend alternatives to Hydroquinone skin bleaching creams to avoid some of the associated issues such as rebound hyper-pigmentation (where the problem rebounds and gets worse!).

Those alternative skin lightening products include a combination Glycolic & Lactic with Kojic Peel in 55% and 35% strengths, as well as a take-home 10% version to keep the skin turning over. This exfoliation process can be done at the peeling level and alternatively can be achieved with gentle daily exfoliator if skin type is not appropriate for a skin peeling treatment.

We treat the skin with a Tyrosinase inhibitor to prevent the discoloration from occurring in the newly younger looking skin. This process also has the benefit of improving the look of the skin for a younger rejuvenated look, as well as to provide the evening of the skin tone for that skin lightening effect.
