Post Peel Care

POST PEEL CARE GUIDE

IT’S NOT OPTIONAL

Chemical peels are extremely beneficial to skin renewal, but you must adhere to post-peel care guidelines to guarantee beautiful results. Peels cause the outer layer of damaged cells to peel off. A fresh complexion will be revealed by the peel process. Excessive or overly aggressive peels may cause thinning of the epidermis, the top layer of skin. Chemicals in the peel cause mild stress and trauma that can lead to mild irritation and redness. In order to sooth the skin and prevent scarring or infection during the healing process, it is important to apply the right products and avoid the wrong behaviors following a chemical peel.

POST-PEEL TIPS & TRICKS

Cleanse (but not too much)
Gently wash the skin with a soap free cleanser. Do not scrub with a washcloth or face brush while the skin is still peeling and avoid overexposure to water to prevent premature peeling. Try to keep your head out of the direct stream in the shower and avoid activities that lead to excessive sweating or moisture, like exercise and steam rooms.

Moisturize
Pay special attention to maintaining moist and supple skin during the healing process to promote radiant results. Apply moisturizing ointment multiple times daily to improve your complexion and to prevent the dry skin from cracking and scarring.

We recommend 100% Pure Hyaluronic Moisturizer to be applied liberally and frequently to reduce skin stress.

Hands Off
The three worst actions you can take post chemical peel are to pick, scratch or rub your extremely sensitive skin. Your face may itch, burn or feel slightly irritated but it is important to resist the urge to ease your discomfort. Like scratching an itchy mosquito bite or popping an unsightly pimple, touching treated skin increases the chances of infection, scarring and discoloration.

Get Shade
Avoid sun exposure completely following treatment while the skin is still peeling. The skin following a chemical peel is extremely susceptible to damage so it is vital to apply sunscreen daily to prevent spots or discoloration from forming.

We recommend the Sun Shield Moisturizer SPF 30+ Anti-Aging Peptides. SPF should be worn every day especially after a peel.

Product Usage
In the 24-48 hours following your peel, avoid using alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acids, and retinols that may further dry and irritate your skin. Once the skin has completely healed, cleanse with a mild daily scrub to maintain results in between peels.
